Will Nobody Get The Job Done?

A lot of folks who read my stuff know that back in 03 I was very enthusiastic about Howard Dean's run for the Presidency. His candidacy was important because it laid out the framework for grass roots organizing over the internet. What is now called the "Political Blogsphere" was born in his Burlington headquarters. I was personally inspired by his urgent call for "one person, making a difference." At times I'm sad now because I look back at 2003 and see the nation that might have been under Dean's leadership.

When that was no longer a possibility, I even thought that 08 would be another chance. Perhaps if Al Gore ran for the White House, Dean could be his running mate. Now that would have been sweet. Gore would have enjoyed two prosperous terms with Dean rousing up the base with his take no prisoners style. Then Howard would've had 2016. Good idear, but it didn't fly.

Fast forward to the 2012 election cycle and I can't see anybody standing up for the least among us on the national stage. The super wealthy take care of themselves, and I've been waiting for somebody to stand up for the working stiff, the homeless, the hungry, even the future itself. But all I see are fat cat speculators and war profiteers peddling ignorance and lies as coins of the realm in what has now become a Kleptocracy. They've turned America into nuclear banana republic with apocalyptic delusions while the President, bullied by these fat cats and war profiteers with their so called 'tea party, squandered the biggest voter mandate since Ronald Reagan at the feet of the stupidest people on Earth. I'm sure President Obama's done his best against impossible odds, but when it came to confronting the Republicans, this country needs more audacity to go with all that hope. We are an audacious and hopeful people, after all and this is not the "United States of Every Man for Himself."

So here we are. The Republican Presidential field is well stocked with lunatics and liars, while the Incumbent Democrat just keeps throwing them everything they ask for and calling it "Compromise." I've been waiting for somebody to stand up, but now I know, deep in my heart that Nobody will.

So I'm supporting Nobody for President in 2012. Because Nobody can get the job done. Nobody listens, Nobody really cares, and Nobody tells the truth!

Face it. Nobody's out there.
